The Don Greig Racing Stables Racing & Development Grant exists to support club members pursuing meaningful running goals at events outside of Christchurch, both within New Zealand and internationally.
The purpose of this grant is to encourage and support runners across all stages of the sport — not only those competing at an elite level, but also members who consistently train, contribute positively to the club culture, strive for personal bests, and represent DGRS with commitment and integrity. We recognise that success in running looks different for everyone. For some, it may be competing at a national level; for others, it may be completing a first marathon, returning from injury, achieving a personal best, or continuing to compete strongly within masters categories. This grant aims to celebrate and support dedication, progression, and passion for the sport.
Funding may be awarded as a contribution toward approved costs associated with attending an approved event outside of Christchurch, including:

Grant amounts will be awarded according to a tiered structure that considers the estimated cost of the event, the strength of the application, financial need of the applicant, event significance and available Club funds. The tiered structure provides guidance only. The Committee retains discretion to determine whether any grant will be awarded and, if so, the amount awarded. The Committee will provide an annual summary of Racing & Development Grant allocations at the AGM or via a written update to members. This summary will outline the number of applications received, the number of grants awarded, and the total funds distributed, while respecting applicant privacy.
Grant funding is discretionary, subject to available Club funds, and is not an entitlement of membership. The Committee may decline any application, approve an application in whole or in part, or award a lesser amount than requested.
