DGRS parkrun Championship image
This year we are going to run a parkrun challenge where members will compete at 5
different parkruns. The results will be based on age group percentages, not
individual times and will be averaged over the 5 runs. For example, a female runner
in the 35-39 age group does Riverlution parkrun in 18.05 giving her an age grade
score of 83.69%. A male in the same age group does it in 18.58 giving him an age
grade score of 71.44%. The female runner gets age grade scores at the other 4
parkruns of 82.1, 85.9, 78.22 and 81.59%. So her average score will be
(83.69+82.10+ 85.90 + 78.22 + 81.59)/5 which is 82.9%. The male runner, can only
do 2 more of the parkruns but gets age grade scores of 75.26 and 78.10. To get his
average score, his total will still be divided by 5 (not 3) giving (71.44+ 75.26+78.10)/5
= 44.96.
After each parkrun, a running tally of places will be kept and posted on the DGRS
website so you can see how everyone is tracking.
It would be great if you would wear DGRS apparel at these parkruns. It would also
be great if on your parkrun profile, you put your club as Don Greig Racing Stables
(since most of you have no club or an old club stated). This will make it easier for
me to find the results. To be eligible to do this you must be a registered runner with
DGRS.
After each parkrun, we will have a group photo and then go for coffee at a local café.
